Repairing works are being carried out in Zestafoni

Holder of the Cup of Georgia, FC “Zestafoni”, for the first time gaining its ticket to the UEFA Cup , is getting ready for the upcoming matches of the first qualifying round of the prestigious Euro Tournament.

Matches of the first qualifying round are planned to take place during the period of 17th till 31st of July, meanwhile, Zestafoni residents have to fulfill a challenging task, i.e. bringing the Football Stadium of Zestafoni in accordance with strict UEFA standards.

In order to fulfill this task, beginning from the first days of June, repairing-rehabilitating activities are being held on the main arena of the city, the club does not have much time to finish up these works – Zestafoni is awaiting a high commission from European Football Union at the end of the month; aim of this visit is to inspect the situation on place and to come to the final decision on the issue of holding matches of the UEFA Cup on the central Stadium of Zestafoni.

Currently, despite the harsh task and limited time frames, assembling-building activities are finished; sport complex of the stadium is brought in accordance with the European Football standards (cloakrooms, showers, room of the match delegate, referee’s cloakroom, room for doping control), medical checkpoints for the spectators and official delegates, television studio, commentator booths, and bars for the journalists are repaired.

During the second phase of the activities, installation of around 4 000 individual chairs for spectators and finishing up the works on perfecting the stadium infrastructure, are planned to be fulfilled in the parallel regime.

Completion of the works are aimed by the 1st of July.
