"Olimpi" crowned in Georgia.

FC "OLIMPI" - THE CHAMPION OF GEORGIA

FC Olimpi Rustavi were crowned Georgian champions for the first time as they defeated FC Kutaisi Torpedo 4-2 at home on the last day of the season to finish one point ahead of FC Dinamo Tbilisi.

Dzodzuashvili's success
Olimpi's success came in their first year under former Georgia and Latvia coach Revaz Dzodzuashvili and they took the title despite their closest rivals Tbilisi defeating FC Dinamo Batumi by the same 4-2 scoreline. Olimpi were dominant throughout in Kutaisi and took the lead on 18 minutes through Revaz Gotsiridze, who went on to to score a hat-trick. Torpedo found the net through Georgi Nadiraze and David Zivzivadze, while Georgi Kakhelishvili got Olimpi’s other goal.

Iashvili hat-trick
Dinamo Tbilisi and Georgia striker Sandro Iashvili also scored a hat-trick but it proved to be in vain as his side had to settle for second sport and a place in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup. FC Ameri Tbilisi finished third for the first time in history after beating FC WIT Georgia 3-0 at home to finish ahead of FC Zestaponi, who had fewer victories. FC Merani Tbilisi managed an important 3-0 win at FC Sioni Bolnisi to keep their place in the Umaglesi Liga on 23 points, while FC Chikhura Sachkhere lost 5-0 at FC Dila Gori and will therefore have to go into a promotion/relegation play-off, while Dila are relegated together with FC Kakheti Telavi, who suffered a 5-1 defeat at home by FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi.
